Partners for a secure .be zone
It is our mission to keep the .be zone safe. To guarantee this security on the internet, we work intensively with many partners.

APWG
DNS Belgium is a member of the Anti- Phishing Working Group (APWG), an international coalition of cybercrime fighters, researchers, law enforcement agencies, technology companies, financial service providers... who work together to combat phishing.

BIPT
To combat erroneous content such as fake news on the internet, we cooperate to the maximum with the BIPT. Among other things, the Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications oversees a secure digital environment.

Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium
We support the initiatives of the Cente for Cybersecurity Belgium. We do so by helping spread their important message on our own channels. We also work closely with CERT, a department of the Centre for Cybersecurity that fights cyber attacks.

Child Focus
DNS Belgium supports Child Focus. Among other things, we do this by automatically displaying a picture of a missing child on our 404 page. And by using the Domain Alert services of the Internet Watch Foundation, which fights against illegal content and child abuse on the internet.

Cyber Security Coalition
DNS Belgium supports the Cyber Security Coalition (CSC) by working with them to raise awareness of cyber security. The CSC is a national ecosystem of cyber security experts. Naturally, we want to play a significant role in this as a registry for .be.

FPS Economy
DNS Belgium works closely with the FPS Economy. This enables us to take fraudulent websites offline within 24 hours. By taking decisive action together, DNS Belgium and the FPS Economy ensure that consumers can trust .be websites.

Safeonweb
Safeonweb is a project of the Centre for Cybersecurity Belgium. It aims to inform and advise Belgian citizens about current digital threats and online security. We support Safeonweb by promoting their campaigns on our own channels.
What is DNS Belgium doing to keep the internet safe?
In addition to working with the above partners, DNS Belgium also takes action to keep the .be zone safe.
We check registration data
When a .be domain name is registered, we check the registration details. We do this before activating the domain name. If the registration looks suspicious, we request the identity of the holder for further verification.
In the same way, we also automatically check the registration details of domain names that have already been registered.
- We contact the registrant if registration details are not correct or complete.
- If the data has not been completed or corrected within 14 days, we take the website offline.
When we see or suspect suspicious activity (e.g. phishing or malware ), we alert the domain name holder.
We focus on raising awareness
By continuously informing and communicating about online safety, we try to make the general public aware of the risks of a digital society and want to increase their knowledge and vigilance around it.
With online campaigns we target specific audiences such as young people and the elderly, as they are more likely to be victims of cybercriminals.
Reporting cybercrime
Have you fallen victim to cybercriminals and online scams despite all these initiatives by DNS Belgium and partners? Or did you come across problematic or illegal content on the internet?
On this page you will find all the hotlines for the different types of cybercrime.
