Are you the copywriter we're looking for?

Our communication team is missing a key member: a copywriter. Someone who has mastered the power of the written word, a true storyteller. A person who confidently tackles complex subjects and translates them into clear, understandable language.

About you

  • You have a minimum of two years' work experience as a copywriter or PR officer. Communication or journalism studies are clearly an asset but not a must.
  • You have journalistic finesse: you keep up with current affairs, have a knack for writing compelling content and like to sink your teeth into a topic. As a result, you write clear and readable texts.
  • Your writing is precise: every word counts. Most importantly, you know how to captivate and move people with your words.
  • Your versatile writing style allows you to adjust your tone of voice according to the target audience and medium. Whether it's for a niche IT audience, Datanews readers, or an entrepreneur aiming to establish an online presence, in news articles, opinion pieces, or short social media posts, you adapt your message to ensure it comes across.
  • You're curious, a team player and work independently.
  • Your native language is Dutch or French.

This is your job

  • You transform words and images into captivating stories, packaged in both short and long copy, including web texts, social media posts, press releases, blogs, opinion pieces, the internal newsletter, etc.
  • In addition to content creation, you also reflect on the most effective distribution methods to reach the right target audience.
  • You will be the ghostwriter of two of our expert colleagues to ensure their stories are told.
  • You actively seek out interesting topics and come up with angles that you share during our editorial meetings but you're also interested in other perspectives and involve your colleagues in what you do.
  • You defend your ideas. You don't mind participating in a video or being photographed.
  • If something major in the news happens, you will quickly craft appropriate copy, working as part of a team.
  • Reporting and documenting are also part of the job and need your attention. Numerical data not only shows us what works, it also helps for our internal PR.
  • You assist with communication projects where needed. This goes beyond your copywriting responsibilities. You're a member of a great, self-managing team and you play your part in it.
  • You're prepared to learn and grow in your job. We expect you to try out things and show enthusiasm for expanding your knowledge or taking training courses.

Important for this role

  • Allow us to state the obvious: good writing skills are essential. You have a passion for language and enjoy writing. Web texts flow effortlessly from your pen.
  • To excel in this role, you need to have a strong interest in technology. Don’t worry, we don’t expect you to explain the domain name system to us. We don’t require technical knowledge or development skills, but we do expect you to have a broad interest in the digital world, such as cybersecurity, AI, and digital media.
  • You don't see AI as a threat to your job, but as a tool to inspire and improve your work. If you lack experience with AI, we expect you to make an effort to learn. We can support you in this.
  • It's important that you're resourceful: you get to work and find solutions when you're stuck.
  • We have a heart for sustainability and are committed to (digital) inclusion, increased cybersecurity and minimal environmental impact. We expect you to see the added value of this and to share our passion for all things digital and sustainable.
