Other complaints

When you are confronted with Internet abuse, you should contact the FPS Economy or your local police office, depending on the nature of your complaint:

  • if you have a complaint related to online trade, when you think your consumer rights are violated/being infringed when purchasing or selling online, you should file a complaint with the FPS Economy. Spam, fraudulent use of brands or fraudulent products can also be reported to this authority through meldpunt.belgie.be.

  • other online crimes that can be prosecuted (e.g. cybercrime such as phishing, hacking and identity theft) should be reported to the local police (http://www.lokalepolitie.be/zones). If an investigation is required, it will be executed by the RCCU (the Regional Computer Crime Unit) or the FCCU (the Federal Computer Crime Unit).

DNS Belgium has no authority whatsoever to obtain information about complaints relating to the provision of ICT services (hosting, Internet access, development of websites, etc.), nor about the billing of these services, problems about spam, phishing, hacking, illegal trading practices and fraud, or attempts to defraud using websites.
