Essential changes for registrars in 2025

19 November 2024

Over the next few months, we will again be making some important changes. As these will have an impact on our registrars, we list them all here:

1 January - New billing system and changes to My Registrations

As previously announced, we will be working with a new billing system from 1 January 2025. As a result, less financial data will be visible in My Registrations from 7 January 9am.

In addition, the system for online payments will disappear and from January you will only be able to pay by bank transfer. Finally, the new system allows you to unblock yourself once a month if your credit drops below zero (see below for more details).

1 January - Sufficient credit on your .be registrar account?

With the new year just around the corner, it is important that you provide enough credit on your .be registrar account for the December renewals. If your credit is completely used up, your account will automatically be blocked. Unless you pay via SEPA Direct Debit you can no longer carry out payments until the credit is topped up again.

Did you receive a message from us that the required quota for .be has not yet been reached? Then you will receive an invoice for the equivalent of the missing transactions.

1 February - Invoicing: new method and new style

We have changed our invoicing method. Until now, you received an e-mail from us with a link where you could download your invoice as an xml or pdf file.

Because we have a new invoicing system and found that the xml version was not used very often, from now on we will send you an e-mail with your invoice attached as a pdf file.

We have also changed the look of our invoices. You will now recognise the colours and layout of our house style. We made our invoices clearer and more user-friendly.

1 January - Fee changes

We also remind you of the fee changes we will implement from January 1st, 2025.

You will then pay €5.50 for

  • the registration of a new domain name
  • the renewal of the right of use of a domain name
  • the transfer of a domain name to another registrar
  • the transfer of a domain name to another registrant .

For the transfer of a domain name in quarantine, we charge €10.00 instead of the current €40.00.

All our fees

7 January -  No more online payments

From the beginning of January, it will no longer be possible to make online payments via our platform.

Keep in mind that we charge renewals at the end of each month and you might therefore go below zero. We recommend that you pay your invoices on time so that you have sufficient balance for your renewals at the end of the month.

7 January - New unblocking mechanism in case of insufficient balance

If your available balance is exhausted but you still want to buy domain names, you can now unblock yourself via My Registrations

When you do so, you will be given 3 days to make payments without your available balance being taken into account. If you need more time after three days, you can contact support for a possible extension.

Note: that you can only unblock yourself once a month.

However, we strongly advise you to pay your monthly invoices on time to avoid ending up in this situation.

Activating payments via SEPA Direct Debit prevents your account from being blocked due to insufficient balance.

7 January - Change in watermark mails

We have simplified the system for watermark mails. The idea remains the same: if you dip below a certain balance, you get a notification email. Previously, you received notifications for six different balance limits ranging from €10,000 to €250.

From now on, you will receive one mail when your balance drops below €500. This makes managing your account easier. Because we notify you in time, you can make sure you always have enough balance to register domain names.
